WCTNZ TAB: Bucket Type / Chattel Dry Toilet System
Classification Compliance Notice

Bucket Type System: Legal Classification

Residential Status:
This unit is supplied and documented as a movable Chattel / Commode-style system. As a non-fixed item, it is generally treated differently from fixed sanitary fixtures within the NZ Building Code framework. Building, plumbing, or site approval requirements may still depend on how and where the system is used.
Nature of Goods:
This system is a manual sanitary vessel. It is not supplied as a mechanical composting processor. Its primary function is the containment and management of toilet waste; any biological composting outcome depends on the owner’s chosen use, site conditions, and management method.
Electrical Safety:
Where fans or low-wattage electrical components are supplied, these are treated according to their voltage and configuration, including Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) or Low Risk pathways where applicable. Applicable components remain subject to essential safety requirements under AS/NZS 3820.
Performance:
WCTNZ® supplies the hardware. Successful use, odour control, biological results, emptying intervals, and maintenance outcomes depend on the operator’s management, usage level, ventilation, carbon/bulking material, cleaning routine, and site conditions.
