We only endorse 100% natural, non-toxic cleaners and additives that are fully compost-safe.

These products use enzymes and beneficial microbes to clean and deodorise without killing the microorganisms that drive composting. In practice, a small amount of water and an enzyme-based spray is all that’s needed for cleaning – no bleach, ammonia or anti-bacterial soaps. Such harsh chemicals would kill the good bacteria in your compost pile, undoing the entire waste treatment process. Instead, our cleaners break down organic residues into harmless compounds and even feed the compost with extra enzymes, keeping the system active and odour-free.

Our flagship cleaner is Nature Flush® Enzymes – a plant-derived, multi-enzyme solution safe for all waterless composting toilets. It is fully biodegradable and adds beneficial enzymes back into the pile, improving pH balance and helping natural bacteria thrive. In short, Nature Flush thoroughly cleans bowls, seats and fixtures and “facilitates the composting process” rather than disrupting it. Regular light cleaning with this compost-safe enzyme cleaner keeps your toilet hygienic – just spray, wipe, and rinse with a little water (even in an off-grid RV, a bit of water won’t hurt the compost).

Where needed, we also use targeted microbial additives and bulking agents to treat the compost itself. For example, WCTNZ® Microbiota MicrobeBURST™ is a concentrated mix of beneficial bacteria that acts as a catalyst and facilitates the conversion of waste into nutrient-rich compost. Adding a scoop of MicrobeBURST™ will jump-start a new system or revive a stalled pile by boosting microbial activity and odour control. Likewise, our Compost Green™ and Compost Black™ additives are fine carbon-based powders that absorb excess moisture and ammonia. These treatments balance wet or smelly piles by buffering pH and promoting thermal breakdown. In use, they absorb ammonia, balance pH levels, and encourage bacterial growth by maximising surface for its activity.

Recommended Products:

• Nature Flush® Enzymes (Toilet & Bathroom Cleaner) – a non-toxic, multi-enzyme spray for regular cleaning of bowls, seats, floors, etc. It “eats away dirt” yet remains safe for the compost and even adds extra enzymes to speed composting.
• Microbiota MicrobeBURST™ (Compost Additive) – a live microbial blend to feed and boost your compost. It contains concentrated beneficial bacteria that help convert waste to finished compost. Use it for system startup, routine “health boosts,” or to fix sour/anaerobic piles.
• Compost Green™ & Compost Black™ (Balancing Additives) – carbon-rich powders used when a pile is too wet or stinky. Sprinkle them on the top of the compost to absorb ammonia and balance moisture. They act as catalysts for decomposition and effectively “fix compost piles that are too wet and imbalanced”.

All of the above products are certified compost-safe and approved for use with waterless composting toilets. They have been proven in NZ field trials to be effective and economical, delivering superior odour control and plumbing performance without any environmental harm. By using only these biodegradable, enzyme-driven solutions, you maintain a healthy compost pile indefinitely – no harsh chemicals needed, and you end up using less product over time than you would with conventional cleaners.
