    Certified Technology & Product Evidence

Selected systems supplied by WCTNZ® are supported by third-party certification, manufacturer documentation, product evidence and technical resources.

Certification and product evidence can support consent confidence and professional specification, but each installation and building consent pathway remains project-specific.

Certification supports the product evidence pathway

Certification can help customers, designers, councils, builders and wastewater professionals understand which product models are listed under a recognised certification pathway.

Certification does not mean every installation is automatically approved. The specific product, site, installation, ventilation, drainage, user load, building work, consent conditions and supporting documentation still need to be assessed for the project.

    Current and future certification records

This page is structured as a certification and product-evidence hub. The Ecoflo / SAI Global certificate is one certification area. Additional certification records, manufacturer product evidence, supplier certificates or technical evidence areas may be added as WCTNZ® expands the documentation library.

    Definitions

    Some definitions for clarity

    Council approved / pre-approved

The term “council approved” is often misunderstood. In most cases, a council or Building Consent Authority does not pre-approve a product for every possible site or installation. Approval is assessed through the relevant consent or project pathway.

A certified product can support the application, but the BCA still considers the proposed design, installation, building work, site conditions and supporting documentation for the specific project.

    Acceptable Solution

An Acceptable Solution is a design solution that is deemed to comply with relevant Building Code requirements where it is correctly applied. This does not mean every product, technology or installation is automatically approved in every situation.

    Code Compliance Certificate (CCC)

A Code Compliance Certificate is issued by a Building Consent Authority at the completion of consented building work, confirming that the completed building work complies with the building consent.

    Restricted building work

Restricted building work generally relates to building work that requires building consent and affects important building elements. Depending on the project, sanitary and wastewater systems may require appropriately qualified tradespeople, professional design input, inspection or BCA review.

Where a composting toilet or associated system forms part of consented building work, the installation must align with the consented design, product requirements, applicable manuals and relevant inspection pathway.

Need help with certification or consent documentation?

WCTNZ® can help customers, designers, builders, councils and project teams identify product documentation, certification references, model information and technical resources for a proposed system pathway.
