If you have just purchased an Ecolet™ system, then this guide on how to start up your system is for you.
Once your Ecolet™ system is fully installed and the ventilation system is running, you need to add a starter bed before the system can be used. Use only WCTNZ®-approved bulking agents: WCT | Eco Mix 40 and WCT | Eco Mix 20 (Quick Bag). Keep the fan running to draw off odour and supply oxygen.
First, acquire your bulking agent (carbon material). These are supplied and approved by WCTNZ®. We recommend WCT | Eco Mix 40 as the starter-bed material (bulking agent) because it is engineered for high moisture uptake, airflow, and reliable compost initiation in Ecolet™ systems. Only use WCTNZ®-approved bulking agents to ensure performance and support eligibility.
Note;
• Some of the starter-bed material will fall through the grate into the drying tray below. THIS IS NORMAL — DO NOT EMPTY THE TRAY UNTIL LATER.
• Always keep the fan on to maintain airflow and odour control.
Note;
• Separera models typically do not require microbe dosing, although microbes are beneficial for long-term composting; use WCTNZ® | Microbiota MicrobeBURST™ if desired, follow instructions on the pack.
• Always run the fan for airflow and odour control.
• Do not put any bulking agent down the urinal, as this can block the urine pipe. Use a compatible eco-urinal cleaner periodically to keep the line odour-free.
WCTNZ® cannot guarantee the operation of your unit unless you are using approved WCTNZ® Bulking Agent (WCT | Eco Mix 40 or WCT | Eco Mix 20 (Quick Bag)).
