GreyFlow™ GTS | Advanced treatment for irrigation and toilet flushing
GreyFlow™ GTS2 | Clear 2 Greywater Treatment System
GreyFlow™ Clear 2 provides higher-level treatment for projects where treated greywater is intended for approved irrigation and toilet or urinal flushing.
The system can be configured for domestic, multi-building and commercial applications, with treatment capacity, storage and reuse infrastructure selected from the actual site requirements.

New Zealand treatment reference: Clear 2 is closest in practical NZ terminology to advanced-secondary / high-secondary treated-water quality with disinfection. This is a technical cross-reference rather than a formal statutory conversion of the Australian treatment class.
Treatment performance
Treatment suitable for approved irrigation and flushing applications
Total Suspended Solids
AWWS stated target: less than 10 mg/L.
Biochemical Oxygen Demand
AWWS stated target: less than 10 mg/L.
E. coli
AWWS stated target: less than 10 cfu/100 mL.
Manufacturer-stated application
Irrigation and toilet flushing, subject to the requirements applying to the installation.
The treatment figures are manufacturer-stated performance targets and do not automatically approve the final New Zealand reuse or discharge arrangement.
Flexible site configuration
Treatment can be centralised while source control remains distributed
One useful GreyFlow™ design option is to install a GDD at each dwelling, building or source group before connecting selected flows to a shared GTS.
- Independently control the greywater from different parts of a site.
- Direct suitable flows to local reuse where approved.
- Send other flows to the Clear 2 treatment system.
- Isolate individual branches during servicing or maintenance.
- Stage connection to central treatment as occupancy or development increases.
- Retain flexibility for future changes to site servicing.
The final routing logic, overflow connection and local reuse arrangement must be defined for the project rather than assumed from the component alone.
Wastewater sources
The GTS can be designed for more than bathroom water
Bathroom sources
Showers, baths and handbasins.
Laundry
Laundry tubs and washing machines may be included.
Kitchen water
Kitchen sink and dishwasher wastewater can be included where specifically designed into the GTS. A dedicated grease trap or equivalent grease-management stage is recommended on the kitchen line before it joins the treatment influent.
Blackwater
Not part of the standard GreyFlow™ greywater treatment system.
Kitchen water should not be treated as ordinary greywater for simple direct reuse. Where it is incorporated into a GTS, it must pass through the designed treatment process and appropriate grease / solids pretreatment.
New Zealand compliance reference
Advanced-secondary quality with disinfection
Australian reference
AS 1546.4:2016 Level 2.
Closest practical NZ treatment reference
Advanced secondary / high-secondary treated-water quality with disinfection, based on the stated BOD, TSS and microbiological targets.
Land application
Must be designed against the site, soil, hydraulic loading, setbacks and applicable regional-plan requirements.
Toilet / urinal reuse
Requires a compliant non-potable water system including separation from potable supply, backflow protection and appropriate pipeline / outlet identification.
Domestic on-site wastewater reference
AS/NZS 1547:2012 may form part of the NZ design and G13/VM4 compliance basis where its scope applies.
Commercial / larger systems
Require a project-specific engineering and regulatory assessment where the domestic verification route does not apply.
“Advanced secondary” is used here as the closest practical NZ performance description. Final terminology and acceptance are determined by the design documentation and relevant consent authority.
