NL3 (on-floor) — Create a breathable starter bed in the in-service chamber by laying 50mm of bulking agent across the bottom, and confirm the fan is running.
Alectura™ Comfort & Premium (split) — Lay the bulking agent starter bed evenly across the chamber floor, and place the in-service chamber under the pedestal. Confirm continuous ventilation and commence using the system. Keep the off-service chamber stored warm and secure for curing.
Use a structural, carbon-rich bulking agent that promotes aeration and absorbs light moisture. Fine/medium wood shavings are the staple and remain the most reliable option. Follow your model’s dosing guidance and occupancy cues; in practice, a consistent “scoop-per-poop” routine maintains surface porosity and a healthy carbon/nitrogen balance.
Confirm a gentle but constant inward draft at the bowl (a quick tissue test works well). The surface should look crumbly and breathable, not slimy or compacted. If the top looks too wet after early use, lightly top-dress with dry bulking; if it looks very dry and dusty, mist lightly so the surface will absorb liquids without beading.
