    Passway™ Maintenance Instructions

    Passway™ Logo Maintenance Page

Passway™ grease traps are designed to be easy to maintain, but like any grease management system, performance depends on routine servicing. The objective is simple: remove captured grease and solids before they build up to the point where separation efficiency drops, odours increase, or the site experiences slow drains and backups.

Start with a sensible inspection rhythm. Every site loads a grease trap differently—residential kitchens behave very differently to cafés, staff kitchens, food courts, and commercial prep spaces. Early on, inspect more frequently so you can learn the site’s accumulation rate and establish a realistic cleaning interval. Once you’ve found the right rhythm, maintenance becomes predictable and quick.

When cleaning is due, the work is typically straightforward: access the lid, remove and empty the removable basket, and remove accumulated grease and solids as required for the unit and site conditions. What matters most is doing the job cleanly, disposing of waste responsibly, and returning the trap to an operating state so separation continues immediately after service.

After servicing, reset the trap so it is ready to perform: confirm internal components are seated correctly, lids and seals are aligned, latches are secure, and the chamber is left in a proper operating condition. A fast, careful close-out prevents odours, prevents leakage, and makes the next service easier.

For commercial operations, record keeping is part of good practice. Keeping a simple service record helps demonstrate that grease management is being maintained responsibly and supports compliance expectations that often apply to commercial kitchens and food-related premises. Cleaning can be performed by trained site staff or by an authorised contractor—choose what best matches the site’s hygiene and operational requirements.
