    Passway™ Technology

    Passway™ Logo Technology Page

Passway™ grease traps are built around a simple, proven principle: slow the wastewater stream and control the flow path so fats and oils can separate out while heavier solids are retained. Instead of letting FOG travel downstream and harden inside pipework, the grease trap becomes the dedicated capture point where separation happens in a controlled chamber.

Inside the trap, the flow is managed through an internal baffle arrangement that supports efficient separation of solids and floating grease. That separation process is designed to be consistent across normal kitchen use patterns—short bursts of discharge, mixed temperatures, and variable solids loads—so the trap remains predictable and serviceable rather than becoming a “mystery box” under the ground.

A key part of Passway’s™ approach is serviceability. The system uses a removable basket so food solids and captured material can be removed during scheduled cleaning. This helps keep the chamber working efficiently and reduces the chance of downstream carry-over. In other words: the separation isn’t only about design—it’s about making routine maintenance easy enough that it actually gets done.

Passway™ grease traps are also engineered for durable field performance. The body is constructed from high-quality polymer with stainless steel latches, supporting frequent access without fragile fasteners. Sealing is handled by an odour- and fluid-control O-ring, and ventilation is supported via an adjustable air vent intended to improve gas relief and water flow behaviour. The end result is a trap that stays stable in the ground, stays sealed, and stays practical for real maintenance routines.

Most importantly, this technology supports a better whole-of-site wastewater outcome. When grease is intercepted at source, it protects downstream pipework, reduces nuisance odours, lowers the risk of blockages, and helps sites maintain the routine documentation and servicing expectations typically associated with grease management in New Zealand.
