This overview is for facilities that have just installed uridan waterless urinals and are ready to put them into service. It doesn’t replace the official installation and maintenance instructions – it simply brings the key steps together so your team can start with confidence.
Before you begin
- Confirm installation is complete and pressure-tested.
- Make sure you have the correct uridan consumables on site (typically a Combi Pack with uriLOCK®, uriCLEAN®, and, where required, uriSTRONG® or uriTABS®).
- Identify who will be responsible for daily cleaning and periodic maintenance.
Step 1 – Check the installation
- Bowls are fixed securely and aligned correctly.
- Trap covers are seated properly and accessible.
- Waste pipework is connected, supported and falls as designed.
If anything looks loose, strained or out of level, have your installer correct it before you commission the system.
Step 2 – Charge the traps with uriLOCK®
- Follow the uridan instructions for filling each trap with uriLOCK® blocking fluid.
- Use the recommended volume per trap – a measuring jug or the uridan measuring cup makes this easy.
- Ensure the fluid has settled and the cover is properly refitted.
Once charged, each trap has its liquid odour seal in place and the urinal is ready for use.
Step 3 – Set up your cleaning and maintenance routine
Decide, in writing, how you will:
- Clean daily – normally using uriCLEAN® and microfibre cloths as per uridan guidance.
- Top up uriLOCK® – typically every three months or in line with the usage profile.
- Deep clean – using uriSTRONG® or uriTABS® at intervals suited to your site.
Align this with your existing cleaning schedules so uridan care becomes part of the normal routine, not an extra task that gets forgotten.
Step 4 – Brief your team
Make sure cleaners and maintenance staff:
- Know which products to use (and which aggressive chemicals to avoid).
- Understand that the urinals are waterless – there is no cistern or flush valve to “fix”.
- Know how to request more uriLOCK®, uriCLEAN® or Combi Packs before supplies run low.
A short toolbox talk at handover often prevents most early-stage issues.
Step 5 – Monitor the first few weeks
During the first month:
- Walk the installation regularly to confirm everything smells neutral and drains freely.
- Check that the agreed cleaning routine is being followed.
- Note any questions from users, cleaners or facility staff so they can be addressed quickly.
Once the routine is bedded in, uridan systems typically run quietly in the background with predictable, planned maintenance.
