Most uridan waterless urinals run quietly in the background with only routine cleaning and uriLOCK® top-ups.
If something doesn’t seem right, this quick guide will help you work out what to check first.
Likely causes
uriLOCK® level too low in the trap
Incorrect or harsh cleaning chemicals used
Deep cleaning (uriSTRONG® / uriTABS®) overdue in busy sites
What to do
Check the trap and top up uriLOCK® as per uridan instructions.
Confirm cleaners are using uriCLEAN® and microfibre cloths, not chlorine bleach or abrasive products.
If the system is heavily used, schedule a deep clean with uriSTRONG® or uriTABS®.
Likely causes
Deposits in the trap or immediate pipework
Incorrect pipe falls or poor support in the waste line
What to do
Carry out a deep cleaning cycle (uriSTRONG® / uriTABS®).
If slow drainage remains, ask a plumber to check pipe falls and layout.
Do not use rods or sharp tools inside the trap or bowl.
Likely causes
Wrong cleaning products (abrasive powders, rough pads)
Build-up from hard water splashes or misuse
What to do
Switch to uriCLEAN® and soft microfibre cloths only.
Avoid scourers, harsh chemicals and acidic descalers on the bowl surface.
If damage is already visible, contact WCTNZ® for advice before experimenting with other products.
Because uridan urinals are waterless, some users may think the unit isn’t working because there is no flush sound.
