When the system behaves differently, note what has changed and contact the service provider before attempting a repair.
Use the fault instructions provided at handover for your installed system. Keep people and animals away from wastewater, and do not bypass an alarm or safety control to keep reuse running.
| What you notice | What to do |
|---|---|
| An audible or visual alarm | Record the wording, indicator and time. Follow the handover instructions for restricting reuse or using backup water, then contact the service provider. Do not repeatedly reset the unit. |
| A leak, overflow or water on the ground | Keep people and animals clear. Reduce incoming greywater where practical and use the documented safe-stop arrangement. Do not block an overflow or divert it to stormwater. |
| New odour, cloudy water or visible solids | Stop using the affected reuse supply by the method shown at handover and arrange service assessment. Do not rely on appearance alone to judge water quality. |
| No reuse water or frequent pump starts | Use only the installed backup arrangement and report the symptom. Do not improvise a connection from the drinking-water supply. |
| A chemical spill or suspected treatment upset | Note the product, amount if known, affected fixture and time. Contact the service provider and follow the fault plan. Do not add another chemical to counteract the spill. |
| A power failure or tripped protection | Record the outage duration. Reduce greywater generation if transfer is unavailable. Do not touch wet electrical equipment or keep resetting a protective device. |
| Flooding, electrical damage, smoke or fire | Keep clear. Call 111 for immediate danger and arrange qualified assessment before the equipment is returned to use. |
Have the model and serial number, address, alarm wording and the time the problem began ready. Explain any recent change in household use, cleaning chemicals, servicing or power supply.
Say whether greywater is still entering the collection device and whether the reuse supply has been stopped. Safe external photographs and the last service report can help. Do not open the cabinet to take photographs.
The service provider checks the fault, treatment operation and stored-water condition, then completes any required repair, restart or sampling work. Follow their directions for returning the system to normal use.
Clearing an alarm does not confirm treatment quality. A quiet alarm, running pump or clear outlet is not a substitute for the required checks.
Record the symptom, date, actions taken, service findings and any parts changed. Note when reuse resumed, who authorised it and whether follow-up work or testing is due.
The Maintenance Instructions describe the wider service record. For planned absences and outages, see How to Start Your System.
